Alexandria University Team “Vulnera” Wins First Place in North Africa at the Huawei Developer Competition 2025
Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the Vulnera team from the Faculty of Computers and Data Science on their distinguished achievement of winning first place at the North Africa level in the Huawei Developer Competition 2025, affirming that this victory reflects the excellence of the university’s students and their strong ability to compete in international arenas.
Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, noted that this achievement is a testament to the quality of the educational process and academic training, as well as the advanced applied skills possessed by Alexandria University students. He also highlighted the excellence of the Faculty of Computers and Data Science in the fields of cybersecurity and data science, reaffirming the university’s full commitment to supporting its students and encouraging them to achieve further successes and accomplishments at both regional and international levels.
For her part, Dr. Magda Madbouly, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Data Science, extended her congratulations to the members of the Vulnera team, praising the efforts of the faculty staff and all those who contributed to the team’s academic, technical, and administrative supervision and support. She emphasized the faculty’s commitment to providing a stimulating educational environment that helps develop students’ capabilities and refine their skills.
The Vulnera team consists of student Amr Medhat Fathy, third year, Cybersecurity Department, and student Mohannad Mohiey Mohamed, third year, Cybersecurity Department. This victory is the first of its kind for an Egyptian team in the history of the competition, which witnessed strong competition with the participation of 389 teams and more than 1,400 developers from students, companies, and technology communities from various African countries.
Faculty of Engineering Organizes an Educational Lecture on Regional Challenges and Their Impact on National Security
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to raising students’ awareness of national security issues, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces, represented by the Military Education Department, in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, organized an educational lecture entitled “Regional Challenges and Their Impact on National Security.” The lecture was delivered by Major General (Eng.) Osama El-Gamal, Military Expert and Advisor at Nasser Higher Military Academy, at the Faculty’s Conference Hall.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Walid Abdel-Azim El-Borqi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stressed that the most dangerous challenge facing Egypt’s youth today is the “war of knowledge and information” and the attempts to influence public opinion through the spread of malicious rumors. He emphasized his full confidence in the awareness of Egyptian youth, their love for their homeland, and their ability to defend it.
For his part, Major General Osama El-Gamal reviewed the most prominent challenges facing Egypt’s national security, pointing to schemes aimed at dividing the Arab region and redrawing its map through foreign interventions and fueling sectarian conflicts. He also touched on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the pressures it poses on Egypt, affirming that the political leadership is managing this file wisely and with full awareness of Egypt’s historical rights to the Nile waters.
He also addressed developments in the Palestinian cause, highlighting Egypt’s historic and pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian people and defending their just cause, as well as its continuous regional and international efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire and prevent any attempts to undermine the issue.
The university students expressed their deep appreciation for the great national role played by the Egyptian Armed Forces in protecting the homeland and defending its vital causes.
In his remarks, Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, stressed that organizing such lectures and educational seminars is part of an integrated strategy aimed at building students’ awareness of the challenges facing the nation and instilling values of belonging and loyalty. He noted that university students represent the first line of defense in confronting rumors and fourth-generation warfare, through their awareness, perception, and positive energy that are capable of protecting Egypt’s future and safeguarding its resources.
At the end of the event, Major General Osama El-Gamal expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Popular and Military Defense Forces for their efforts in raising university students’ awareness of current challenges. He also praised the distinguished role of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University in organizing a series of lectures and educational activities that contribute to enhancing students’ national awareness and sense of belonging.
Delegation from the Faculty of Fine Arts visits Matrouh Governorate to study the strategic urban development plan
In line with the directives of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, to link academic study with practical application and to enhance the participation of university students in national development projects—thereby preparing graduates with a comprehensive developmental vision capable of contributing to building the New Republic—and based on ten years of prior work within the department’s curriculum, a delegation of fourth-year students from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, conducted a field visit to Matrouh Governorate.
The visit aimed to study the strategic plan for urban expansion and sustainable urban development in the governorate’s capital, Marsa Matrouh, under the supervision of faculty members from the department.
During the visit, Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, met with the delegation in the presence of senior officials from the governorate.
Representing Alexandria University were Dr. Hesham Saudi, Professor of Architecture and Planning and Head of the Alexandria Engineers Syndicate; Dr. Ahmed El-Zayat, Lecturer of Architecture and Head of the Architectural Engineering Division at the Syndicate; Dr. Mohsen Mardash, Lecturer of Architecture; along with assistant engineers Mostafa Ibrahim and Donia Nabil, and teaching assistants Ahmed Tamam, Zeina Mahrous, and Doaa Abaza.
During the meeting, after the student groups presented their visions and ideas for the city and listened to the governor’s and executive leaders’ guidance and feedback supporting their proposals, Major General Shuaib praised the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the governorates of Alexandria and Matrouh.
He commended the faculty’s role in preparing architectural cadres capable of contributing to national development projects, welcoming the professors and students to Matrouh and emphasizing the importance of their participation in presenting innovative visions for urban development in line with national strategic plans.
The students presented their findings and analyses of the governorate’s and region’s strategic plans, offering proposals to develop Marsa Matrouh into a smart, integrated city that respects the local environment and leverages the governorate’s tourism, agricultural, and industrial potential.
The governor praised the students’ enthusiasm and awareness of urban development issues, affirming the governorate’s support for their efforts. Meanwhile, the Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Matrouh announced a reward for the best integrated projects and outstanding future proposals.
Seminar at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels on “National Security Challenges”
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to fostering national awareness among its students, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces organized an awareness seminar this morning, Tuesday, November 12, 2025, at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, entitled “How Egypt Faces National Security Challenges.” The seminar was delivered by Major General Bahgat Mohamed Farid, former Director of the National Defense College.
In her opening speech, Dr. Abir Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, welcomed the distinguished guest and attendees, emphasizing the importance of instilling awareness of national security issues among young people and preparing a conscious generation aware of its national responsibilities. She highlighted that building the university student’s character depends on strengthening their sense of belonging to their homeland and understanding their role in preserving its resources and contributing to its development. She also extended her gratitude to the university administration and the Military Education Department for their continued efforts in organizing such awareness events that help build the consciousness of Alexandria University students.
During the seminar, Major General Bahgat Mohamed Farid discussed the concept of national security as the state’s comprehensive ability to protect its resources and achieve stability and sustainable development. He pointed out that Egypt has successfully faced numerous challenges in recent years thanks to the awareness and unity of its people behind their political leadership, especially in light of regional conflicts and attempts to undermine its stability. He also reviewed the major challenges and threats that Egypt has encountered throughout its history, along with the state’s efforts across various fields of development under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which have restored Egypt’s leading regional and international status. In conclusion, he urged students to verify information carefully and to stay away from false rumors aimed at undermining national unity and stability.
For his part, Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, affirmed that these seminars come within a comprehensive plan to raise awareness of national issues and strengthen students’ sense of belonging. He stressed that awareness is the first line of defense for the nation and that youth are the main pillar in confronting attempts to spread misinformation and rumors.
The seminar was attended by the faculty’s vice deans, members of the teaching staff and their assistants, a large number of students, and officials from the Military Education Department at the university.
Faculty of Education organizes an awareness seminar on “Renewing Religious Discourse and Building Youth Awareness”
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to promoting enlightened thinking and reinforcing the values of tolerance and moderation, and under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Education held an awareness seminar yesterday entitled “Renewing Religious Discourse and Building Youth Awareness.”
The seminar was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gammal, Director-General of Preaching and Head of the Fatwa Committee at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Alexandria. It was attended by Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. El-Sayeda Mahmoud Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Salem Abdelrazek Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Salah Suleiman, General Coordinator of the University’s “Societal Issues” course; Dr. Lamiaa Khamis El-Shafie, University Volunteer Activities Coordinator; along with a large number of faculty members and students.
The seminar was organized with the participation of a group of young faculty members and under the supervision of the Faculty’s Youth Welfare Department.
During his lecture, Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gammal discussed the concept and importance of renewing religious discourse to keep pace with contemporary developments while preserving the core values and principles of Islam. He clarified that renewal does not mean altering the essence of faith, but rather modernizing the methods of religious communication to meet societal needs and confront extremist ideologies.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Hassan Abdeen welcomed the participants and emphasized that sound religious awareness is one of the key foundations for building an enlightened university personality. He pointed out the university’s commitment to instilling the values of moderation and national belonging among its students.
Dr. Lamiaa El-Shafie also stressed the importance of simplifying religious discourse to make it closer to young people’s way of thinking and capable of answering their questions in a clear and convincing manner that strengthens both their religious and national identity.
The seminar witnessed strong interaction from students, who actively participated in rich discussions about the concept of moderation in Islam and the role of youth in building awareness and preserving national identity.
