Faculty of Medicine Organizes Awareness Seminar on Energy Conservation in Cooperation with the Electricity Distribution Company
In line with the state’s direction toward rationalizing energy consumption and enhancing resource efficiency, and under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Medicine organized an awareness seminar in cooperation with the Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company. The event was held at the faculty’s conference center, aiming to raise awareness among all university members about the importance of the rational use of electricity.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Eman Youssef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Jehan Gofeel, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. The event was supervised by Dr. Mohamed Sadaka, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
In her speech, Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy emphasized that energy conservation is no longer an option but a national necessity imposed by current challenges. She referred to the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector’s initiative “Think… Save… Change,” which aims to promote awareness of positive behaviors within the university community, particularly the optimal use of resources. She added that strengthening this culture is a key pillar for achieving sustainable development and reflects the university’s commitment to supporting state directions and building a more aware and responsible society.
Dr. Tamer Abdallah affirmed that this event is part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness and support national initiatives aimed at achieving optimal energy use, which positively impacts the national economy and environmental preservation.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Sadaka explained that organizing this seminar comes within the framework of the Community Service Sector’s plan to implement a series of awareness activities targeting the promotion of positive behaviors within the university community. He stressed that conservation begins with simple daily practices carried out by individuals, which collectively have a significant cumulative impact at both the institutional and national levels.
The seminar addressed several important topics, including methods for optimal energy use within institutions, ways to reduce waste in daily consumption, and practical tips that can be applied at home to help lower electricity bills and conserve resources.
The event also witnessed positive engagement from attendees, with numerous questions and discussions raised about best practices for energy conservation and the role of individuals in supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainability and reduce economic burdens.
Awareness Seminar at the Faculty of Engineering – Alexandria University on “Digital Violence Against Women”
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to promoting community awareness and fostering a culture of safe technology use, and under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Engineering organized an awareness seminar titled “Digital Violence Against Women.” The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students and staff about contemporary issues related to digital transformation.
Dr. Wael El-Maghlani, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, emphasized that organizing this seminar aligns with the faculty’s role in engaging with pressing societal issues. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness among youth about the risks of unsafe technology use and promoting a culture of digital responsibility, especially in light of the rapid expansion of digital platforms.
The seminar was delivered by Major General Dr. Mohamed Abu Leila, former Director of the Internet Investigations Department, who reviewed the most common forms of digital violence against women, including cyber extortion and defamation. He also discussed prevention strategies and ways to address such crimes amid rapid technological advancements, stressing that digital awareness is the first line of defense against online risks. He further emphasized the need for collaboration between institutions and individuals to protect society—particularly women—from cyber threats.
This seminar is part of a series of activities organized by the faculty to enhance community awareness and build a generation capable of using modern technology safely and responsibly. The event was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, including the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, the Assistant Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the Coordinator of Awareness and Training Programs at the Women’s Empowerment Committee.
At the conclusion of the seminar, an open discussion session was held, which witnessed notable engagement from students, with various questions addressed.
The First Annual Pediatric Cardiology Unit Conference to Be Held at Faculty of Medicine in December 2025
The Pediatric Cardiology Unit at the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine – Alexandria University, announces the convening of its First Annual Conference from 18 to 19 December 2025, at the Smouha Medical Complex – Third-Floor Auditorium, Children’s Hospital.
This year’s conference features distinguished scientific collaboration with Prof. Hala Agha and Prof. Magdy Mahmoud through the Pediatric Cardiology Club, in recognition of their valuable academic contributions to the field of pediatric cardiology.
The event will host a select group of professors and experts in pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric cardiac surgery from various universities across Egypt, with the aim of exchanging expertise and discussing the latest developments in this specialized field.
Faculty of Medicine Holds Its Sixth Annual Conference for Intern Doctors
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University held its sixth annual conference for intern doctors on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Held for the sixth consecutive year, the conference serves as a leading scientific platform reflecting the university’s role in preparing qualified medical professionals and supporting the healthcare system in the community.
The conference was attended by Dr. Tamer Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Iman Youssef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Sedka, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Essam Badawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Dr. Ahmed Sabry, Director of the Mandatory Training Program for Intern Doctors; Dr. Osama Abdel Hay, President of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate; along with a distinguished group of department heads, faculty members, and representatives from the Alexandria Medical Syndicate.
The conference presented a comprehensive scientific program aimed at enhancing the clinical and professional skills of intern doctors, with broad participation from the 2025–2027 and 2026–2028 cohorts, as well as interested students from various universities. Sessions focused on leveraging modern technology, developing communication skills, and finding professional mentorship, while emphasizing adherence to medical ethics as a fundamental guideline for practice.
The activities concluded with a set of practical recommendations stressing the importance of continuous learning, maintaining psychological balance, and efficiently managing stress, ensuring graduates excel in their professional careers. Participants affirmed that this annual event has become a cornerstone of Alexandria University’s strategy to consolidate academic and professional excellence in the medical field, and to strengthen its leadership in preparing medical professionals capable of meeting the challenges of modern healthcare.
