Faculty of Education Organizes an Awareness Seminar on National Security Strategies in Celebration of the Glorious October Victories
As part of Alexandria University’s celebrations marking the 52nd anniversary of the Glorious October Victories, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty of Education organized an educational seminar entitled “National Security Strategies in Light of the Lessons of October.”
The seminar was delivered by Major General Eng. Hafez Hassan, an expert in national security strategies, and featured a special performance by Alexandria University’s Choir.
The event was attended by Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Salem Abdelrazek Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. El-Sayeda Mahmoud Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Lamia El-Shafei, Coordinator of Student Activities, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and students.
In his address, Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen emphasized that the October Victory will forever remain a shining symbol of national pride and Egyptian determination, noting that the spirit of October serves as a model of perseverance and teamwork in achieving development goals and safeguarding the nation’s achievements.
During his lecture, Major General Hafez Hassan discussed the comprehensive concept of national security, explaining that it is not limited to military power alone but rather encompasses intellectual, economic, social, and cultural dimensions. He also stressed the importance of raising youth awareness of their vital role in maintaining the country’s stability and protecting its security.
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean expressed his gratitude to the speaker and attendees, affirming Alexandria University’s commitment to continuing the organization of educational and awareness-raising events that promote national identity and foster patriotic values among its students.
Faculty of Specific Education Organizes the Cultural Forum for International Communities and Foreign Students
As part of the university’s commitment to supporting activities that promote cultural openness and interaction among international students, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Specific Education organized the Cultural Forum for International Communities and Foreign Students (from Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, and Syria) for the undergraduate level. The event took place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the theater of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science.
The forum was attended by Prof. Dr. Nagda Mady, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Gehan Aboul Khair, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Hala Mokled, Executive Director of the University’s International Students Administration; representatives of the Palestinian Consulate; a number of deans, vice deans, faculty members; as well as a large audience of international students and community leaders. The event was moderated by Dr. Nada Yousry and directed by Adham Yehia.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Nagda Mady emphasized the importance of cultural closeness between local students and their international counterparts. Prof. Dr. Gehan Aboul Khair highlighted the faculty’s role in integrating students and providing academic support, while Dr. Hala Mokled underscored the university’s efforts in supporting international students and providing an attractive educational environment. Huthaifa Al-Alawi Al-Issawi, President of the International Students Committee at the university, expressed the students' appreciation for the university’s interest in their needs.
The forum featured distinguished artistic and musical performances by the faculty’s choir led by Maestro Dr. Hani Zoweid, a flute solo by Dr. Shaimaa Abdelhamid, and cultural presentations by international students introducing their home countries and educational experiences. The event also included the opening of an art exhibition by local and international students, as well as a traditional food exhibition representing the participating countries, reflecting the cultural diversity within the university.
The event concluded with honoring participants and presenting shields and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the success of the forum.
The forum’s coordination was supported by Assoc. Prof. Heba Gamal Abdel Halim and Assoc. Prof. Dalia Mohamed Sharaf, with organizational contributions from Dr. Shaimaa Maher Makawy, Dr. Samar Mohamed Salem, and Dr. Heba Abu Al-Maati, whose efforts played a pivotal role in achieving the forum’s goals.
Alexandria University Organizes an Educational Lecture on "Fourth-Generation Warfare" at the Faculty of Medicine
As part of Alexandria University’s efforts to enhance national awareness among its students, and under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces organized on Tuesday morning, November 18, 2025, an educational lecture entitled "Fourth-Generation Warfare". The event took place at the Grand Conference Hall of the Faculty of Medicine, and was delivered by Major General (Staff) Dr. Hesham El-Helbawy, Advisor at the Military Academy for Postgraduate Studies, with the participation of Dr. Iman Youssef, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, faculty members, and students of the faculty.
During the lecture, Major General El-Helbawy emphasized the importance of such meetings in deepening military and security awareness among young people. He explained the concept of fourth-generation warfare, outlining its objectives, characteristics, and mechanisms, noting that this type of warfare seeks to destabilize political, social, and economic systems, influence public opinion, and impose a new reality that serves the enemy's interests. He also reviewed the evolution of warfare throughout history up to modern methods, shedding light on the Egyptian state's efforts in confronting these challenges, including counter-terrorism operations, strengthening national security, combating psychological and media warfare, and addressing regional and international pressures. He affirmed that the Egyptian Armed Forces work to protect the nation’s capabilities and stability, safeguard citizens, and confront any threats to national security with high professionalism and efficiency.
Dr. Iman Youssef extended, during the lecture, a message of appreciation to the Armed Forces for their great sacrifices in protecting the homeland and defending national security. She stressed that the Egyptian people have become more aware of the magnitude of the challenges facing the state and more united behind its political leadership in preserving the country’s stability. She also encouraged students to benefit from such valuable seminars, which contribute to building their character and broadening their knowledge with credible information.
For his part, Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of Military Education at Alexandria University, highlighted the importance of organizing such awareness activities to strengthen students' national responsibility, introduce them to contemporary challenges, and familiarize them with methods of defending the state and preserving national security.
At the end of the event, a discussion session was opened with the students, who asked several questions and inquiries. Major General El-Helbawy addressed misconceptions and enhanced their understanding of contemporary threats.
Dr. Iman Youssef concluded the seminar by presenting Major General El-Helbawy with the Faculty of Medicine’s Shield in appreciation of his valuable participation.
Launch of COSIMENA 2025 Activities at the Faculty of Fine Arts to Train Students in Digital Heritage Documentation
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the COSIMENA 2025 Winter School was launched today at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and will continue until 7 December 2025.
The event comes within the framework of scientific cooperation between Alexandria University and several international partner universities, including Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg, Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany, the University of Sharjah, and Jordan University of Science and Technology, with full funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
In this context, Dr. Nevin Gharib, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, stressed that the workshop reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and developing students’ skills in the field of digital documentation of cultural and industrial heritage. She pointed out that the training includes the fundamentals of architectural documentation and the production of 2D and 3D drawings of the Cotton Exchange building in the Minet El-Basal area using the latest Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning technologies.
The workshop also hosts a distinguished group of specialists from the participating universities and from the International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage (TICCIH), contributing to the exchange of expertise and the enhancement of students’ practical skills.
Scientific Seminar at Alexandria University Highlights Latest Advances in Immunotherapy
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to supporting scientific research and promoting health awareness, and under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of the University, the High Institute of Public Health organized a scientific seminar entitled “Immunity and Cancer: A Bidirectional Interaction.” The event was held under the supervision of Prof. Heba El-Qady, Dean of the High Institute of Public Health, and Prof. Zeinab Sheta, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of the Medical Research Institute and in collaboration with the Egyptian Association for Cancer Research, reflecting the integration of academic and research institutions to support prevention and treatment efforts.
The seminar brought together a distinguished group of public health and medical experts. Scientific sessions addressed the rising incidence of cancer at both local and regional levels, highlighting key risk factors and prevention strategies, as well as the health risks associated with exposure to harmful chemicals.
The seminar also emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy diet and reducing harmful cooking practices that may lead to the formation of carcinogenic substances, while reinforcing the role of health awareness in disease prevention.
A specialized session focused on cancer immunotherapy, presenting its latest applications in the treatment of breast cancer, along with a review of national efforts to improve patient access to such advanced therapies.
Additionally, several research topics in oncology and prevention were discussed, including the impact of food contaminants and recent trends in liver cancer, particularly those associated with fatty liver disease, which require advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
The seminar also explored the use of modern biological models, such as Drosophila, in biomedical research and their role in accelerating drug discovery, in addition to presenting the latest research trends in the development of immunotherapy approaches.
The event concluded with valuable contributions from physicians and researchers, supporting knowledge exchange and keeping pace with scientific advancements in cancer research and treatment.
