The Faculty of Fine Arts Ranked 11th Globally in the Inspireli 2024/2025 Ranking
The Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University has achieved a new international milestone by securing 11th place among the world's top 100 educational institutions in the overall ranking announced as part of the 10th edition of the Inspireli Awards 2024/2025, the results of which were released in recent days.
This advancement reflects the Faculty's growing global reputation in the fields of arts and architecture. The ranking is primarily based on the scale and quality of student participation in international competitions organized by Inspireli, which significantly contributed to strengthening the Faculty's position this year.
The achievement represents a continuation of a clear upward trajectory, as the Faculty had previously ranked 14th in the preceding edition before advancing to 11th place this year. This progress highlights the quality of the submitted projects, as well as the increasing competitiveness and active engagement of both students and faculty members.
In this context, Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, expressed his pride in this international accomplishment, emphasizing that the Faculty's success reflects the University's continuous support for academic excellence and innovation, as well as its commitment to enhancing the global presence of its faculties in major international competitions and academic forums.
For her part, Prof. Nevine Gharib, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, expressed her pride in this international achievement, noting that reaching 11th place globally is the result of institutional teamwork and the collective efforts of the Faculty's academic staff and students. She added that this accomplishment serves as a strong motivation for further excellence and advancement in international rankings, reflecting the Faculty's growing regional and global standing.
During the ceremony marking the presentation of the INSPIRELI University Ranking certificate, Dr. Eman Mounir, Jury Member of the Inspireli Awards and Assistant Professor in the Department of Interior Design, presented the certificate to Prof. Nevine Gharib, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, in the presence of Dr. Hanan Sobhy, Head of the Department of Interior Design.
Faculty of Medicine Holds an Educational Seminar for Female Dormitory Students on Promoting Mental and Reproductive Health and Combating Cyberbullying
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to enhancing students’ awareness of reproductive, mental, and overall health, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty of Medicine organized an extensive educational seminar yesterday for female students residing in the university dormitories. The event aimed to promote health education and address contemporary behavioral and social challenges.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, emphasized the importance of such meetings in raising students’ awareness and developing their ability to make informed decisions in their daily lives. He noted that the seminar reflects the Faculty's mission in community service and in enriching health and psychological awareness, highlighting the significance of continuing to organize similar educational events due to their vital role in enhancing students’ health and societal awareness.
Dr. Dalia El-Neily, Assistant Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that this event comes as part of a series of educational activities and programs implemented by the Faculty, reaffirming its commitment to its pioneering role in building a student community capable of confronting health, psychological, and societal challenges.
A group of specialized professors from the Faculty of Medicine participated in the seminar. Prof. Dr. Emad Darwish, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, provided a comprehensive explanation of reproductive health, the risks of early marriage, and the importance of family planning. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Heba Abou El-Ala, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, discussed the psychological and social aspects related to choosing a life partner and how to make sound decisions at this stage of life. Dr. Heba Abd El-Samea, Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology, presented an overview of cyberbullying, its psychological and social impacts on students, and key prevention methods and response strategies.
The seminar witnessed a wide attendance from female students, who showed remarkable engagement by asking questions and engaging in discussions with the speakers, fostering an atmosphere of meaningful dialogue and psychological and social support.
Inauguration of the Educational Service Center for the Tomato Value Chain at the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, with a total cost of €1.3 million
Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, witnessed today, Thursday, June 4, 2026, the inauguration of the Educational Service Center for the Tomato Value Chain at the Faculty of Agriculture. The center has a production capacity of 4 tons every 8 hours and a total cost of €1.3 million for production lines and equipment, in addition to Alexandria University’s contribution of approximately EGP 45 million for infrastructure and facility preparation. This comes within the framework of cooperation between Alexandria University, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The inauguration was attended by Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria; Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Heba Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Ambassador Sasho Podlessnik, Ambassador of Slovenia; Dr. Ahmed Megawer, Assistant Minister of Industry for International Cooperation; Dr. Patrick Gellabert, UNIDO Representative; and Dr. Tiberio Ciare, Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, along with a number of deans and vice deans of faculties and institutes at Alexandria University, representatives of international partner organizations, and faculty members and researchers.
The center is the first educational and applied facility specialized in the production of peeled whole tomatoes and diced peeled tomatoes within an Egyptian university. It aims to support the food processing industry, enhance the added value of agricultural crops, and provide training and capacity-building for students, graduates, and technical staff on the latest food processing technologies, contributing to food security and sustainable development.
In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim emphasized that the inauguration represents the culmination of Alexandria University’s distinguished efforts, leveraging its scientific, research, and training capabilities to present an integrated model that links education, scientific research, and practical application, contributing to the development of the food processing sector and maximizing the value of agricultural products. He praised the successful partnership with UNIDO and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, which reflects international confidence in Alexandria University’s capabilities to implement impactful economic and social development projects.
He added that the center represents a qualitative addition to the Faculty of Agriculture and Alexandria University, as it will contribute to training and qualifying students, graduates, and technical personnel in modern food processing technologies, enhancing their readiness for the labor market and supporting the state’s efforts toward developing the food industry and achieving food security. He also expressed gratitude to the Faculty of Agriculture administration, faculty members, researchers, and project implementers for their efforts in achieving this milestone, stressing that the center marks a starting point for further initiatives and partnerships that serve society and support the national economy. He concluded by expressing appreciation to all international supporting entities, noting that this cooperation reflects the distinguished status of Alexandria University at both regional and international levels.
For his part, Governor Ayman Attia stated that launching the first locally established peeled tomato production line in Egypt at the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, is not merely an industrial project, but a real step toward localizing the food industry, strengthening food security, reducing imports, deepening local manufacturing, and maximizing the added value of Egyptian products. He added that the center is the result of successful cooperation between state institutions, universities, and international organizations, praising Alexandria University’s role in linking scientific research with practical application and community service.
He further noted that the center represents a strong addition to the food industry sector in Alexandria Governorate, as it opens the door for products that were previously heavily dependent on imports, thereby supporting the national economy and providing training and employment opportunities for youth and graduates according to the latest standards. He reaffirmed the Governorate’s commitment to supporting development and research projects that serve society and enhance Alexandria’s position as a leading scientific, industrial, and economic hub.
Dr. Heba Salama highlighted that the center represents a new scientific and applied landmark that strengthens the university’s role in serving the agricultural sector and supporting sustainable development, embodying integration between education, research, and community service. She noted that the cost of production lines and equipment amounted to approximately €1.3 million funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, while Alexandria University contributed about EGP 45 million for infrastructure and facility development.
She added that the center reflects the Faculty of Agriculture’s commitment to presenting an integrated scientific and applied model that connects researchers, farmers, and the food processing sector. It aims to provide educational, training, and consultancy services that enhance skills, build capacity, and support agricultural production and food processing in line with sustainable development goals.
Ambassador Sasho Podlessnik emphasized the strong relations between Egypt and Slovenia, expressing his pleasure in cooperating with Alexandria University, particularly in green economy projects, micro-projects, environmental protection, and sustainable development, noting that green transformation and sustainability are the main pillars of the future.
Dr. Tiberio Ciare praised bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Italy in the agricultural sector, stating that such projects serve as a bridge for exchanging expertise and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
Dr. Ahmed Megawer stressed that the inauguration represents a practical model linking scientific research with production, industry, and the knowledge economy, contributing to innovation and modern industrial cooperation models that maximize economic returns and invest in the potential of Egyptian youth.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ali Badarna, Head of the Food Security and Food Systems Department at UNIDO in Vienna, delivered a presentation highlighting the achievements of the Tomato Value Chain project in Egypt, and its role in supporting agricultural processing, enhancing value addition, and promoting sustainable development.
Alexandria University Congratulates Nour Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil on Winning the Arab Athletics Championship
Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, extended his congratulations to student Nour Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil, a second-year student at the Faculty of Business (English Program), on her outstanding performance at the Arab U20 Athletics Championship held in Tunisia. She secured first place and the gold medal in discus throw, as well as second place and the silver medal in shot put.
He expressed his best wishes for her continued success in upcoming competitions and for her to keep representing Egypt with distinction at regional and international events.
Dr. Abdel Hakim also affirmed that this achievement reflects the university’s commitment to supporting student activities in all fields and providing a motivating environment to discover and nurture talented students, contributing to preparing a generation capable of achieving excellence and raising Egypt’s name in international forums.
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Organizes “Alex Cat Show” in Support of Egypt Rabies-Free 2030 Initiative
In support of the “Egypt Rabies-Free 2030” initiative and to promote public health awareness and animal welfare, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Alexandria University organized the “Alex Cat Show.”
Dr. Mahmood Elmaghraby, Dean of the Faculty, highlighted the importance of raising awareness about proper pet care and the prevention of zoonotic diseases, especially rabies, as part of efforts to protect public health.
The event featured vaccination and preventive care services for cats, alongside exhibitions of pet care and nutrition products.
The exhibition also included a “Best Cat” competition with 35 participants, where winners received prizes, in addition to free follow-up veterinary services. All participants received gifts provided by sponsoring companies, in collaboration with the Alexandria Veterinary Syndicate and civil society partners.
